Going to WWDC2006

Or black, green, three grays, and back to black

Yes, I'm going to be heading to San Francisco for WWDC2006 — Apple’s annual conference for developers from around the world. Other than the whole “What’s going to be in Leopard?” thing, which can’t be discussed here because it is all under NDA, this leaves the following three big questions:

1What happened to Friday afternoon?I seem to remember sessions running on Friday afternoons on previous WWDCs — is there going to be a big surprise at the end of WWDC2006; should we all bring games as if it were the last day of term at school; or are we just going to be let our early?

2What color will the t-shirts be? The earliest WWDC I attended was in 2000, and the t-shirts then were long-sleeved and black. The following year, 2001, was similarly long-sleeved, but green — not even a translucent iMac sort of green, just green. Starting in 2002, the t-shirts went short-sleeved, Garamond was no more, and the t-shirts were definitely not green. In 2005, the t-shirts were once again black. Does this mean that the cycle is about to start again and that the t-shirts for 2006 will be green?

3What subliminal message will Steve be channelling? In 2000 I picked up on the subliminal message “Write great applications; drink only water,” — the first part I’m working on, the second part — with an exception for hot chocolate — has been dutifully followed for just over six years now.
