Flying on an Intel day

Or why this would have been weird last year

It was only when I got to the check-in desk that I realized I was flying out to WWDC2006 on an Intel day: 3 August 2006… 3/8/6… 386! If Apple hadn‘t previously announced — at WWDC2005 — that they were migrating to Intel processors I’d have thought the date coincidence to be slightly more weird — or even worrying — than it actually was.

Actually, what’s really weird is that I could travel 8,877km from Glasgow to San Francisco (and back!) in comfort for almost exactly the same cost as a Mac mini with 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo and a Mighty Mouse, and still not get jet-lag. Now that is weird.
