Surprise Christmas presents
Or how google picks up on one line…
In amongst all the cool Christmas presents I received this year — and, yes, many of them featured an Apple or Disney logo on them somewhere — were a couple of code-related ones: firstly, Jonathan ‘Wolf’ Rentzsch released a new version of mogenerator; and secondly he was kind enough to say nice things about the post I’d written about getting started with mogenerator.
What also amuses me is that my post features on the first page of Google’s results for ‘mogenerator’ — for a while I think it had the number two position — but the line that Google had extracted from my guide is “What has the author of mogenerator been doing with all their time?” Does Google have a magical device for detecting the line where I’m trying to be funny and then take it out of context? However, it has made me suddenly realize that the sidebar comments that are visible on the web version of this blog don’t show up in the RSS feed, so it looks like I’ll have to go and fix that. Happy Christmas!
